Marlabs Helps Clients Stay Ahead with MCO Central’s Regulatory Updates and Product Enhancements

-Version 1.2 of Marlabs’ Hosted Solution Helps Managed Care Organizations and Third Party Administrators Proactively Address Complex Compliance Issues-

EDISON, N.J. (September 21, 2004) - - Marlabs, a global full service provider of application development, managed and consulting services, today announced the latest updates to its MCO Central product. This Web-based system streamlines the complexities of worker’s compensation claims and case management for managed care organizations (MCOs) and third party administrators (TPAs).

MCO Central, which launched in June 2003, is already delivering significant measurable results for 1-888-OhioComp in Cleveland, Ohio. Based on a mandate from the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation that all MCOs transmit notes related to injured workers’ claims electronically, Marlabs has provided this feature as a Web solution to be configured by the MCO. The initial deadline for this mandate was September 25, 2004, however, MCO Central was ready with the enhancement, as well as related security and electronic transmission features well in advance of the deadline. Additional features in MCO Central Version 1.2 include:

  • General ledger system that automatically logs the monetary transactions and keep track of all receipts and credits.
  • The ability to capture and incorporate adjustments into the system, making reconciliation much easier for the MCOs.
  • Users can now create a detailed reconciliation report that shows the up-to-date status of accounts at any point in time.

Siby Vadakekkara, Marlabs’ CEO, said, “Version 1.2 and the speed at which Marlabs worked to address the new regulatory issues are great examples of our commitment to customer satisfaction. Our clients tell us they appreciate our technical acumen, as well as our ability to be a strategic business advisor to them. MCO Central demonstrates how we understand both the complex worker’s compensation process and how to apply technology to increase productivity and improve data accuracy in complicated applications.”

First to adopt MCO Central was Cleveland-based 1-888-OhioComp. Several other MCOs, within Ohio have expressed interest in the product. Vadakekkara said, “MCOs and TPAs like MCO Central because it’s delivered via an ASP-model, meaning there is no hardware investment, special training requirements or investment in internal IT resources to maintain and support the software. Since it utilizes a standard Web browser, the user interface is very familiar. As a result, user adoption is very high, which drives rapid ROI on MCO Central.”
