While public frameworks and utilities provide significant value, we provide added advantage for our customers by developing our own utilities and by enhancing existing utilities.

We have therefore created the Marlabs Application Framework (MAF) which helps jump-start the development of agile enterprise applications through service-oriented architecture concepts and design. It consists of sub-frameworks, utility services and functional services, with a set of common infrastructure services that are built on top of the base platform. The MAF helps address Quality of Service requirements, incorporates industry best practices, leverages open source and helps build reusable knowledge within Marlabs.

For building the MAF, we:

• Selected best-of-breed technologies based on application development requirements, and extended these technologies to add MAF functionality.
• Developed Intellectual Property by creating lifecycle processes that helps us develop applications faster and better.

The world of user interfaces and interactivity on the Web has come a long way from the static pages of the mid ‘90s. Today, customers are demanding the same level of sophistication from browser-based applications as from native desktop applications. Rich Internet Application (RIA) platforms promise not just the kind of richness of features that native Windows applications do, but also provide the benefits of collaboration, rich media, and so on. These provide a compelling, immersive, and highly interactive environment to application users.

Marlabs is actively engaged in pioneering the process of bringing these platforms to our customer desktops to significantly enhance their experience and productivity. Platforms include Flex2 from Adobe, OpenLaszlo, and TIBCO General Interface (GI). We are also actively studying the emerging Apollo platform from Adobe/Macromedia as well as the Microsoft WPF/E platform.
